FINE ART

Recognizing that some overlap between Fine Art and Illustration is inevitable, I define Fine Art as images created absent a specific commercial intent. The term is particularly applicable when visually exploring interests, artistic voice, experimentation, or interpretation of a subject.

This gallery highlights some of my favorite portraits, studies, and sketches that I’ve created. They share a common focus on form, expression, and detail. When working digitally, I use a Wacom tablet in Photoshop and the Procreate app on my iPad. I’ve documented the creation of many of the digital pieces in corresponding process videos linked below the artwork.

I painted this digital portrait of my dog, Hershey, before I ever owned a Wacom tablet or an iPad with digital drawing software. I used only my fingers on the MacBook touchpad. It was challenging, but I’m very pleased with the result.}
