EWTN (ETERNAL WORD TELEVISION NETWORK) – MOTION GRAPHICS

NOTE: The political and religious views espoused by EWTN are solely those of the Network. They do not represent my personal views.

During my final semester of college at Samford University I worked part time at EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network). Reaching 425 million viewers in 160 countries, EWTN is the largest religious media network in the world. As the On-Air Graphics & Motion Graphics Designer I coordinated with the creative director, producers, editors and others, to develop and design Graphic Packages for on-air use. These included:

– opening and closing motion graphic sequences
– animations
– title designs
– credits
– name keys
– show bumps
– lower thirds graphics
– full page backgrounds
– and other elements depending on the needs of the project

My work was used in both live and pre-recorded broadcasts. During key internationally live-streamed shows, such as the 2015 presidential primary debates and Pope Francis’ 2015 visit to America, I sat in-studio with producers and directed the broadcasts into and out of commercials. Also, I designed print materials to support Production & Promotions staff as needed. The following are two motion graphics sequences I made while working at EWTN:

International Eucharistic Congress

This motion graphic was created for branding purposes, and played at the beginning and end of all video interviews recorded at the 51st International Eucharistic Congress.

Global Offices (German Address)

I designed this motion graphic as part of an information campaign to highlight various EWTN offices around the world. Being assigned the German office, I drew inspiration from the flat colors, strong lines, and shape language of the famous German graphic design movement, bauhaus.
